Nestled in the scenic heart of Blackheath, Altitude Delicatessen stands out as a charming cafe destination perfectly situated near the breathtaking Govett’s Leap lookout in the Blue Mountains. This quaint deli offers a delightful fusion of flavors, focusing primarily on fresh, hearty sandwiches and a thoughtfully crafted breakfast menu that caters to a diverse range of dietary preferences.
From the first bite, Altitude Delicatessen impresses with its inviting breakfast selections. The Vegan Breakfast, widely praised by patrons like Srithi, delivers a vibrant, wholesome start to your day, beautifully complemented by a warming chai. For those craving classic comfort, the Big Breakfast and the richly satisfying Egg & Bacon Roll promise generous portions and cozy familiarity. Meanwhile, the Eggs Breakfast serves as a simple yet flavorful option to fuel your outdoor adventures.
The deli’s real highlight, however, shines in its sandwich offerings—an acclaimed specialty among locals and travelers alike. Terence Ha’s glowing recommendation of the Turkey, Roast Beef, Pesto Chicken, and especially the Cuban, reveals a menu packed with bold, well-balanced flavors. Each sandwich is crafted with care, layering fresh ingredients and tantalizing seasonings, whether it's the tangy succulence of Vietnamese Chicken on brioche or the smoky allure of a classic Salami. As noted by many, including Gareth Randall, these sandwiches are not only delicious but also maintain a healthy, fresh character that makes them perfect after a long hike or a day exploring the Blue Mountains.
Complement your meal with one of Altitude Delicatessen’s expertly brewed coffees. The macchiato or piccolo, priced at A$3.30, offers a smooth, aromatic experience, while the indulgent Affogato presents a sweet, creamy treat that feels like a little luxe escape. Iced Coffee enthusiasts will find a refreshing way to cool down and recharge.
Beyond the food, Altitude Delicatessen radiates warmth and a welcoming atmosphere. Shweta Agrawal’s mention of quick service paired with friendly staff captures the spirit of genuine hospitality that makes every visit memorable. The cozy, laid-back vibe invites visitors to linger—whether for a peaceful breakfast, a relaxed lunch, or a casual catch-up with friends.
For those venturing through Blackheath or tackling the nearby Grand Canyon trek, Altitude Delicatessen offers not just sustenance but a taste of local charm and culinary care. It’s a hidden gem where the quality of food meets genuine service, making it a must-stop destination that leaves a lasting impression.

Good food, lovely staff, they cut my sandwich but didn’t cut my partners which was annoying. Good mix of flavours.

Was told by a good friend that this place has the best sandwiches and it certainly did not disappoint! We had the Turkey, Roast Beef and Pesto Chicken - but our absolute favourite was the Cuban, full of meat and pickles! An added bonus is that the prices are very reasonable. We will definitely make this our regular lunch stop when we travel through Blackheath! Highly recommended!
